Device Soldering and

Rework Program

The Surface Mount Technology (SMT) , Device Soldering and Rework Program is an intensive, hands-on training course designed to provide students with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely install, solder, inspect, remove, and rework electronic surface mount components used in today’s electronics and avionics industries.

This program combines classroom instruction with extensive laboratory practice, allowing students to work with industry-standard tools, equipment, and techniques while developing the
precision and confidence required in electronic assembly and repair.

    Schedule

    72 contact hours-offered over a three month period (12 weeks) Students will have the option to choose from several convenient class schedules at both the Orlando & Kissimmee locations (2 sessions per week or Saturday ONLY options)

    What

    You'll Learn

    Throughout the program, students will gain hands-on experience in:

    Aircraft electrical and electronic systems

    Monday/Wednesday (9am – 12pm):
     3 hour session; six (6) hours per week for 12 weeks.
    Tuesday/Thursday (9am – 12pm):
     3 hour session; six (6) hours per week for 12 weeks.

    Navigation and communication equipment

    Monday/Wednesday (6pm – 9pm):
    3 hour session; six (6) hours per week for 12 weeks
    Tueday/Thursday (6pm – 9pm):
    3 hour session; six (6) hours per week for 12 weeks

    Avionics installation and troubleshooting

    Saturday (9am-4pm):
    6 hour session; (once) every Saturday for 12 weeks

    Aviation safety and regulatory compliance

    Monday/Wednesday (9am – 12pm):
     3 hour session; six (6) hours per week for 12 weeks.
    Tuesday/Thursday (9am – 12pm):
     3 hour session; six (6) hours per week for 12 weeks.

    Quality control and inspection procedures

    Monday/Wednesday (6pm – 9pm):
    3 hour session; six (6) hours per week for 12 weeks
    Tueday/Thursday (6pm – 9pm):
    3 hour session; six (6) hours per week for 12 weeks

    Technical documentation and industry standards

    Saturday (9am-4pm):
    6 hour session; (once) every Saturday for 12 weeks

    Students will become proficient in using professional equipment, including soldering irons, hot air rework stations, infrared preheaters, desoldering tools, reflow ovens, and industry-approved soldering materials and chemicals.

    Hands-On

    Training

    A major emphasis of this program is practical experience. Students perform multiple soldering and rework exercises while building and testing a functional electronic circuit, reinforcing the techniques learned throughout the course.

     

    By the end of the program, participants will be able to confidently inspect solder joints, diagnose common assembly defects, replace damaged components, and perform high-quality electronic rework using industry-accepted standards.
