Electronics Technician (AET)

What
You'll Learn
Throughout the program, students will gain hands-on experience in:
Autonomous Navigation Systems (ANS)
Monday/Wednesday (9am – 12pm):
3 hour session; six (6) hours per week for 12 weeks.
Tuesday/Thursday (9am – 12pm):
3 hour session; six (6) hours per week for 12 weeks.
Dependent Navigation Systems (DNS)
3 hour session; six (6) hours per week for 12 weeks
Tueday/Thursday (6pm – 9pm):
3 hour session; six (6) hours per week for 12 weeks
Onboard Communications and Safety Systems (OCS)
6 hour session; (once) every Saturday for 12 weeks
Radio Communication Systems (RCS)
Monday/Wednesday (9am – 12pm):
3 hour session; six (6) hours per week for 12 weeks.
Tuesday/Thursday (9am – 12pm):
3 hour session; six (6) hours per week for 12 weeks.
- Surface Mount Technology (SMT) fundamentals
- Safe handling of Surface Mount Devices (SMDs)
- Proper use and maintenance of soldering and rework equipment
- Hot air soldering and component installation
- Identification and correction of common soldering defects
- Functional circuit assembly and testing
- Identification of electronic components and integrated circuit (IC) packages
- Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protection and best practices
- Hand soldering and reflow soldering techniques
- Solder inspection and quality control
- Component removal, board cleaning, and rework procedures
Whether you’re beginning your aviation career or looking to enhance your professional
qualifications, our NCATT AET training provides the knowledge and confidence needed to successfully earn your certification.
- Any compulsorily equipped ship radiotelephone station operating with more than 1500 watts of peak envelope power.
- Voluntarily equipped ship and aeronautical (including aircraft) stations with more than 1000 watts of peak envelope power.
Hands-On
Training
A major emphasis of this program is practical experience. Students perform multiple soldering and rework exercises while building and testing a functional electronic circuit, reinforcing the techniques learned throughout the course.
By the end of the program, participants will be able to confidently inspect solder joints, diagnose common assembly defects, replace damaged components, and perform high-quality electronic rework using industry-accepted standards.
